GW4 Waiver Wire Targets

Defenders

It is tempting to go and chase those Tyrick Mitchell points, but I would urge you not to. Fulham are not a great team, one of the goals required a large amount of luck and he scored 3 and 0 through the first two weeks. Ben Chilwell also took his place midway through the second half, also scoring. I would prefer to look at the below instead.

Ryan Giles - 29% - Hull

The last few weeks we have written about the Hull defenders as a group, rather than specific individuals. Giles has been one of our favourites due to his positioning, but he has earned his spot atop the defender priority targets this week. 4th in the league for accurate crosses, a key pass in every game and Hull continue to earn clean sheets. Hull sit deep, which earns them lots of DefCon, and look to Giles almost every time they attack. Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Fulham and Brentford over the next 5 gameweeks - Giles looks like he could be a set and forget for the foreseeable future.

Anan Khalaili - 49% - Crystal Palace

Another strong, if unspectacular, ghost-point showing against Fulham (8 points). Palace cannot keep clean sheets yet Khalaili is still averaging almost 9 points a game, including a bench appearance. This will be your last chance to get Khalaili if he is in your league, and you should do it.

Bobby Thomas - 33% - Coventry

Did we get the Bobby T breakout game we were all hoping for in the pre-season? 16.5 points against City (!!), all ghost points, in an all-action defensive display that included 2 key passes. Along with the 10 points against Hull, Bobby T is averaging 10.5/game through the first 3 weeks. If we throw out the opener against Arsenal, Bobby T is looking like a strong Fantrax asset. Brighton, Forest, Newcastle, Spurs then Fulham - nothing overly scary there. I would have Bobby T in and around the Hull defenders in terms of my waiver rankings.

Jayden Bogle - 16% - Leeds

James Justin is 56% owned yet has scored less than Bogle over the 3 weeks. Justin is a safe pick with higher ghost points, but Bogle is likely available in your league. I would like both of them, preferably Justin, but if he is gone, go get Bogle for the next two games (Newcastle, Palace), and pop him back on the waivers for Arsenal in GW6.

Other Targets:

Hull Defenders - I have spent a lot of time on Hull defenders over the past few weeks, and I would have them above Bogle, and ever so slightly above Bobby T. My preference in order would be Egan, Mendy, Ajayi after Giles. Mendy has been scoring fantastically, but has been subbed off in every single game, never passed the 70th minute - that is a concern. Egan edges it because of that.

Luke Shaw - Maybe it is time I put respect on his name. 65% owned, so I am taking liberties here. With Man United failing to sign a left-back and seemingly content to leave Dorgu on the bench or in the LW spot, Shaw has really stepped up. 12/game, but more importantly 9.75 ghost/game, I am starting to believe.

Antonio Silva - out-pointed and out-ghosted James Hill this past weekend, and Bournemouth seem to be a team playing very similarly to last year under the new manager. 24% owned, and I would be interested in him outside of the above.

Olivier Boscagli - Big score in GW3 on a good team. Boscagli has started the first 3 games, but with fewer returns in GW1 and 2. I am concerned about rotation at Brighton, otherwise I would buy in more. Coventry up next is a lovely match-up target though.

Midfielders

James McAtee - 34% - Forest

McAtee has been included on every single waiver article so far, and he will continue to be until the Fantrax community catch up. 14 points in GW3, all ghost points, means McAtee is averaging almost 10 GhPts/game. This includes playing both Liverpool and Spurs. He played the full 90 in this past game, so my earlier fears of regular substitutions are being put to rest. Up next is Villa, Coventry and Palace - delightful. Go grab McAtee while you still can.

Mohamed Belloumi - 49% - Hull

Similarly to McAtee, this week may be your last chance to get Belloumi. I will admit, I didn't buy in last week after his 13 points in GW2, largely because his ghost points were low. Well he has made me look a fool as Belloumi racked up 15.75 ghost points against Villa, and looked fantastic while doing it. When Hull are not utilizing Giles on the left wing overlap, they feed the ball to Belloumi, who progresses play quickly and efficiently. Belloumi could be a fantastic waiver pickup if this form continues. One of my top picks this week with Chelsea and Newcastle up next, both of whom cannot defend.

Exequiel Palacios - 9% - Ipswich

A tough game against Liverpool, yet Palacios passed the eye test and racked up 9 ghost points. If he can do that in a game that largely went against him, I am rather interested to see what he will do against Palace, Everton and Fulham in his next 3 games. My concern with Palacios is that he sits in the double pivot, and may give a lot of the key passes away to players like Enciso, but so far we have seen that he can provide key passes and rack up DefCon points. I own him in one league and am happy about it.

Malick Yalcouye - 45% - Brighton

He came back down to earth this week, but still did not crater your line-up if you picked him and started him. Coventry up next, I would still happily grab him in the waiver run and start him if he is there. Keep an eye out for drops when Tuesday waivers run, I think you will see Yalcouye dropped in lots of leagues. Go grab him and start him against Coventry.

Cesar Palacios - 13% - Fulham

The other Palacios that we probably should be more excited about but the numbers just haven't quite been there until GW3. 3 and 1.5 in the first two weeks, Palacios scored against Palace and contributed 7.5 ghost points too. Fulham fans have spent most of the pre-season claiming Palacios is their best signing this year. If he can find some form on that left wing for Fulham, then he could be quite valuable. I am not sure he is a pick up and play just yet with Liverpool and Man United coming up, but one to keep an eye on. I would prefer the above midfielders personally.

Forwards

Tyrique George - 39% - Everton

Have we just witnessed the Tyrique George breakout? We wrote about George after GW1 as a strong waiver target due to his decent ghost points but he has put in an all-around fantastic performance in GW3. 12.50 ghost points, 21.5 total points, and he looked electric against Man United. Capped it off with an absolute corker of a goal. He won't be on your waiver wire next week, and he is my number 1 add this week. Forwards are hard to find on the wire, let alone one that can ghost point. My concern was the arrival of Grealish, but when Grealish came on, they removed Johnson and moved George out to the right. Hopefully that means we can trust he will start, either way, well worth the risk.

Liam Delap - 49% - Forest

Delap put in a decent performance against Spurs, getting himself about and contributing with ghost points (6). If that is his floor and he can add 10-15 goals this season, he is well worth a starting spot in Fantasy. I don't see Igor Jesus or the corpse of Chris Wood really challenging him for his starting spot.

Eddie Nketiah - 25% - Crystal Palace

Nketiah was having a great game at Fulham, adding an assist in the first half, before coming off at half time with an injury. No news on this at the time of writing, but he seems pivotal to the way Palace are playing at the moment. His floor has been 5 points this season, and again, a forward with a floor that high is far better than what is usually on offer. If we get good news on the injury, well worth a look.

Ellis Simms - 5% - Coventry

I would not target Simms on the waiver, but I wouldn't mind picking him up if I see he is starting against Brighton, Forest or Newcastle over the next 3 games. He scored almost as many points in 19 minutes (5) as Awoniyi did in his 70. Ghosted well, but unlikely to get the nod just yet. If he starts and you are forward-needy, could be a half decent risky option off the free agency market.
